Post today's spot on your online store

Open Online store > Today's spot on your phone, enter where you are parked, your hours and a short note, publish, and share the store link so customers stop asking where you are.

Every morning someone asks where you are today. The Today’s spot post answers once, on your online store, so you can share one link everywhere instead of replying to every message. It takes about two minutes once you have done it a few times.

Before you start

  • Your menu is in, so the online store has something to show. See Import your menu.
  • Your online store is switched on under Online store. It is created automatically when you add products.
  • The spot details: a place name customers recognise, a cross street or landmark, today’s start and end time, and anything worth knowing (“parked by the north gate”, “cash and card”, “brisket until it runs out”).
  • A data connection on your phone.

Steps

  1. On your phone, open GetFoodTruckPOS and go to Online store > Today’s spot.
  2. Tap New post. If you posted yesterday, tap Copy last post and change only what differs.
  3. Fill Where: the name people know, such as a brewery, market, office park or event, plus a landmark. Keep it short; it is read on a phone.
  4. Fill When: today’s date, start time and end time. Use the time you will actually open the window, not the time you arrive.
  5. Add a Note if useful: the menu special, which items are sold out, or “card and cash”. One or two lines is plenty.
  6. If you have more than one truck, pick the Truck this post is for. Each truck can have its own spot.
  7. If you take pickup orders, check the Order ahead switch matches what you want today. Turn it off for a crowded festival where the window is already slammed.
  8. Tap Publish. Open your store link in a browser to see what customers see.
  9. Share the store link on your Instagram bio, Google Business profile, WhatsApp status or wherever your regulars look. The link stays the same; only the post changes.

Check it worked

  • Your online store shows today’s spot at the top with the right date and hours.
  • The post shows on the right truck’s page, if you run several.
  • A friend opening the link on their phone can read the spot without zooming or logging in.

Common problems

Yesterday’s spot is still showing

The new post was saved as a draft, or the date was left on yesterday. Open Online store > Today’s spot, check the date, and tap Publish.

Customers came to the wrong place

The place name was too vague. “Downtown” is not a spot. Add a cross street, parking lot name or gate number. If plans change mid-day, edit the post rather than creating a new one, so the link always shows the latest.

Order-ahead orders arrived while we were closed

Order ahead was left on. Turn it off at the end of service, or set end times on the post so customers know when the window shuts. You can also pause it from the same screen when you are too busy.

I post on Instagram anyway, why bother?

Instagram stories vanish and do not show your menu or prices. The store shows the spot and the live menu together, and sold-out items disappear on their own. Many owners post the store link in their story instead of retyping the spot.

Can the spot post itself every day?

Each day’s spot is posted by you, since only you know where you are going. Copying yesterday’s post makes repeat spots very quick.
