Six things worth knowing
In transit
The app and your online store use HTTPS, so data between the device and the server is encrypted.
Backups
The database is backed up on a regular schedule so it can be restored after a fault.
Who sees what
Roles decide what each staff login can do: ring sales, give discounts, see reports, change prices. Staff sign in with their own PIN.
Card data
Card numbers are handled by your processor’s reader, not by GetFoodTruckPOS. We record that a sale was paid by card, not the card itself.
Your data, your copy
Export products, customers and sales any time. After cancelling, your data stays available to export for 30 days, then it is deleted.
What you should do too
- Give every staff member their own login and PIN; never share the owner account.
- Lock the window tablet with a screen PIN and enable remote find on it.
- Remove staff access the day someone leaves.
- Collect only the customer details you need, and only text people who opted in.

Security and data questions
GetFoodTruckPOS is a hosted service, so your data lives on servers run by us, not on your phone. If a device is lost or broken, your sales, menu and reports are still there when you log in on another one. Data is backed up regularly. Details of how we handle personal data are on /privacy/.
Yes. The servers hosting GetFoodTruckPOS are backed up regularly, so a server problem does not wipe your sales history. You can also export your own data to spreadsheet or PDF at any time, which we recommend doing for tax records. Backups protect against disasters, not against someone deleting items by mistake, so use staff roles carefully.
Yes. GetFoodTruckPOS runs over HTTPS, so data between your device and our servers is encrypted in transit. Always check the address bar shows our domain before you log in. Avoid logging in on public Wi-Fi you do not trust; your phone's mobile data or your own hotspot is safer.
No. GetFoodTruckPOS does not process cards, so card numbers never go through us. Cards are read and processed by your processor's reader and systems. The POS only records that a sale was paid by card and the amount. Questions about card data security go to your processor.
Yes. Roles and permissions let you decide who can ring sales, give discounts, issue refunds, open the cash drawer, see reports or change the menu. A cashier can sell without seeing profit reports. Each staff member signs in with their own PIN, so sales and voids are traced to a person.
Each staff member gets their own PIN to sign in to the register quickly. That stops staff sharing one login and means the sales by staff report is accurate. Change a PIN when someone leaves, and remove their access the same day. Do not write PINs on the tablet.
We do not claim any security certifications on this site. Because we do not process or store card numbers, card security sits with your processor, who should hold the relevant card industry compliance. For anything else, we describe what we actually do here: hosting, regular backups, HTTPS, roles and PINs, export and deletion.
Yes. Account owners can export sales, items, customers, stock and reports to spreadsheet or PDF at any time, without asking us. If you cancel, you have 30 days to export before your data is removed. We suggest a monthly export for your own records anyway. If you need help with a full export, contact us through /contact/.
Yes. Send a deletion request through /contact/ or the privacy email from the account owner's email address. We confirm who you are, then delete your business data, except anything we are legally required to keep, which we explain when we reply. Export what you need first, since deletion cannot be undone.
