Comparison questions
We compare on what matters at a truck window: how card processing works, whether you get an online ordering site, how you post your location, what happens with weak signal, languages, contract terms, hardware and running more than one truck. Competitor prices come from their public pages, dated in a table on each page. Re-check before deciding, because pricing changes often.
We have side by side pages for Square, Toast, Clover and SpotOn, because those are the systems truck owners most often ask about, mainly in the USA. We also have alternative pages for owners already on Square, Toast or Clover who want to see other options. Each page lists where the other system is stronger, not only where we are.
We try hard to make them fair. Every page has a section on where the competitor wins and who should pick them. Their prices come from public pages and widely reported figures, with the date we checked. We do not claim a competitor lacks a feature unless that is commonly documented. If you spot something out of date, tell us and we will fix it.
Card processing. Most big POS brands bundle their own processing and earn from each card sale. GetFoodTruckPOS does not process cards and takes 0% of card sales: it works with the processor and reader you choose, and you pay a flat plan price. That suits owners who already have a good processing rate or want to keep it independent.
It depends on your sales, your processing rate and which features you need. A free POS plan can cost more overall if its processing rate is higher than one you could get elsewhere, and a paid plan can cost less. Use /savings-calculator/ with your own numbers, and check each competitor's current pricing page, since we only show figures as of the date we checked.
No. GetFoodTruckPOS needs a data connection to ring sales, and we will not pretend otherwise. Several competitors advertise an offline mode, so if your spots have no signal at all, weigh that seriously. Most truck owners run on the phone's 4G or 5G or a pocket hotspot, keep a second SIM on another carrier, and take cash if signal drops.
Because the big US brands are the ones most truck owners search for, and most of their documentation is public. In the UAE and Pakistan, many trucks use local POS apps, bank terminals or just cash and a notebook. Our country pages at /uae/ and /pakistan/ cover what matters there: local currency, VAT or provincial tax, Arabic and Urdu, and local payment methods.
You can bring your menu, customers and opening stock across, usually by spreadsheet export from your old system. Past sales history normally stays in the old system, so download its reports before you cancel. Run both side by side for a few services if you can. Our step by step plan is on /switch/.
We re-check competitor pricing and terms periodically and show the date of the last check on each page. Pricing, processing rates and plan names change without notice, so treat our tables as a starting point. Always confirm on the competitor's own site or with their sales team before you sign, especially if a contract or hardware lease is involved.
