Food truck POS cost calculator: what would you keep?
Card processing is left out on purpose: you keep your own processor with us, so that cost doesn't change.
How we calculate
Your total is the sum of the four boxes. Our total is the plan you pick at its monthly price for the selected country, plus the managed website if you entered a website cost and picked a POS plan. The bundle already includes the website and marketing tools. Taxes follow each market's rule shown under the result.
What it doesn't count: hardware leases, early termination fees on your current contract, or the time a slow screen costs you at rush. Those are real; they're just yours to judge.
Calculator questions
It compares your estimated monthly cost on GetFoodTruckPOS with a competitor, using your card sales, average ticket, processing rate and plan choice. It adds the software fee and the processing cost on each side. Competitor figures come from public pricing at the date shown, so treat the result as an estimate, not a quote.
Because processing is charged on every card sale, it often adds up to far more than the software fee. A free POS with a higher rate can cost more than a paid POS with your own lower rate once sales grow. The calculator shows both parts, so you can see which one drives your total.
Look at your latest monthly processor statement. Divide total fees by total card volume to get your effective rate, which includes per transaction fees and extras. That number is more honest than the advertised rate. If you are new, ask processors for a written quote for your expected ticket size and volume.
It focuses on monthly software and processing, since those repeat. Hardware is a one-time or leased cost that varies a lot. Add it yourself: if a competitor requires their device and you already own a phone that works with GetFoodTruckPOS, that difference matters. Check /hardware/ for typical categories.
They are the public or widely reported list prices at the date shown on the page. Competitors change pricing, plan names and processing rates often, and resellers may charge differently. Use the calculator for a quick comparison, then confirm the exact numbers with the competitor before you decide.
Enter your combined monthly card sales and pick the Fleet plan on our side. Many competitors charge per location or per device, so check how many they would bill for. If your trucks have very different sales, run each truck separately and add the results for a more accurate picture.
Only card sales attract processing fees, so the calculator asks for card sales. Cash still matters for your business, and GetFoodTruckPOS tracks it in the cash register with expected versus counted at close-out. If your mix shifts toward cards over time, re-run the calculator with the new numbers.
Paying annually for a GetFoodTruckPOS plan gives a 20% discount compared with monthly billing. The calculator can show either. Monthly keeps you flexible while you test the season, and annual lowers your cost if you already know you are staying. You can start monthly and switch later.
Maybe not on cost alone, and that is fine. Switching takes effort, so small savings may not be worth it. Switch if other things matter: keeping your own processor, posting today's spot, multilingual screens, month to month terms or a commissary on the Fleet plan. If those do not matter, staying put is reasonable.
