A Clover alternative built for food trucks

Clover's hardware is well made and many trucks use it. Owners tend to look elsewhere because of how it is sold: through banks and resellers, each with their own rates and contracts, and on devices that only run Clover.

  1. Reseller agreements with long terms or early termination fees.
  2. Processing rates set by the bank or reseller rather than chosen freely.
  3. Hardware that only runs Clover software, which makes switching harder later.
  4. Wanting an online store with a daily location post included on every plan.
  5. Running a truck in the UAE or Pakistan, or needing Arabic and Urdu right to left screens.

Here are the common reasons owners look past Clover, and a short list of options that fit food trucks. GetFoodTruckPOS comes first because it is ours, and we note honestly where each option is stronger.

Clover alternative questions

GetFoodTruckPOS fits owners who want to keep their own processor with 0% taken by the POS, run on any phone or tablet, month to month, with an auto online store and today's spot posts. Square and Toast are other well-known options with bundled processing and their own hardware. Compare with /savings-calculator/.

Common reasons include reseller contracts with early termination fees, processing rates set by the bank or reseller, hardware that only works with Clover, or features locked to higher plans. Many owners with a good direct Clover deal are happy. If your issue is the contract, check your agreement before anything else.

It depends on who sold it to you. Read your merchant agreement for the term, notice period, early termination fee and any equipment lease, which can be separate from processing. Call the reseller or bank and ask for the exact numbers in writing. GetFoodTruckPOS is month to month, so you can time your start to fit.

Clover devices are locked to Clover's software and processing, so plan on a phone, tablet or laptop for GetFoodTruckPOS and a reader from your chosen processor. If your Clover device is leased, return terms may apply. Many standard thermal printers can be reused. See /hardware/ for what works.

Yes. GetFoodTruckPOS does not process cards, so it works with the processor you choose. You record card sales in the POS against your processor's reader and keep the rate you negotiated. That makes it easier to change processors later without changing your POS, menu, reports or online store.

GetFoodTruckPOS does not have an offline mode, and we will not claim one. Clover offers offline payments on its devices. With GetFoodTruckPOS, run on 4G or 5G or a hotspot, keep a backup SIM, and take cash if signal drops. Some processor readers have their own store-and-forward mode, so ask your processor.

GetFoodTruckPOS serves the UAE and Pakistan with local currency, VAT or provincial sales tax, Arabic and Urdu right to left screens and receipts, and payments like JazzCash and Easypaisa recorded as custom methods in Pakistan. Pricing is set per market. See /uae/ and /pakistan/ for details.

If you rely on Clover's app market or a specific Clover app, check whether you still need it. The Clover hardware itself is well built, and you will be choosing your own devices instead. GetFoodTruckPOS covers quick menu, modifiers, cash register, close-out reports, stock, loyalty and an online store. Check /features/ against your list.

The POS side usually takes an afternoon: import the menu, set taxes, add staff and ring a test sale. The slow part is often a new processor approving your account and shipping a reader, so start that first. Run both systems for a few services before you cancel Clover. See /switch/.
